Which coil did that go from — and how long to prove it?

Which line is really losing your yield. How long a trace actually takes. How many orders are sitting blocked on a single width.

One processor took six hours to trace a customer complaint back to its heat number. The record existed. It was in four different books.

Three processors. Each one had the record and could not find it.

01 The coil nobody could find

A coil arrives, gets a number, goes into the yard. Then it is slit, and the children coils get their own identity, and the link back to the parent is a line in somebody's book.

When a customer questions a property, tracing which coil it came from takes a day of walking and asking — if it can be traced at all.

With records in a book6 hrs
With a spreadsheet2.5 hrs
Tracked at each cut4 min

Every child coil now carries its parent and its heat number automatically, at the moment of slitting.

02 Yield, and where it actually goes

You know your overall yield. Everybody does. What almost nobody knows is which line, which operator, which coil width is pulling it down.

Scrap is weighed at the end. By then it is one number for the month and there is nothing to act on.

Scrap by line, one month
Slitter 11.8%
Slitter 22.4%
Cut-to-length7.1%
Shearing1.4%

Input weight and output weight are recorded at every operation, so the gap has a line attached to it.

7.1% → 3.2%on the line that was losing most

03 The order waiting on one width

A customer order needs four widths. Three are cut. The fourth is waiting because the right coil was not planned in.

The order sits complete-but-not-dispatchable, and nobody sees it as blocked because three of four lines show finished.

Orders held, and by how many items
Waiting on 1 item18 orders
Waiting on 2 items7 orders
Waiting on 3 or more3 orders

An order now shows as blocked when any part of it is, not complete when most of it is.

The steel was never the problem. Knowing which steel, and when, was.

Every coil. Every order. Every operation tracked.

Questions from steel processing businesses

How does Clicarity work for a printing business specifically?
Clicarity is configured around your specific print workflow — pre-press, printing, finishing, dispatch — in your terminology. Every job gets a unique ID and moves through your defined stages. You see live status, timestamps, and alerts when a job sits too long at every stage. The Clicarity team builds everything for you. You go live in 5 days.
Does it work for both offset and digital printing?
Yes. Clicarity works for any print process — offset, digital, wide format, screen printing, or a combination. The stages are configured around your actual workflow. If offset jobs go through plate making and digital jobs skip that stage, both can be tracked correctly under the same system.
Can it track material wastage at each stage?
Yes — with the Multi Licence. At every stage, your team logs quantity in and quantity out. Clicarity calculates the loss automatically. You see wastage by stage, by job, live — not at month-end when nothing can be done about it.
Will my press operators actually use it?
Yes. The update screen has two fields — Job ID and status. Under a minute. No training needed. GP Offset's entire team was using it from day one, including floor workers who had never used a software system before.

See every coil. Every machine. Before the delivery date is missed.
